This page explains how Mirror Reader users can delete their Mirror Reader account and request deletion of personal data associated with that account.
Mirror Reader may allow some app features to be used without creating an account. If you create or sign in to a Mirror Reader account using email, Google, or Sign in with Apple, your account-based reading and learning data may be synchronized with Mirror Reader's backend services.
How to delete your Mirror Reader account
You can initiate account deletion directly inside the Mirror Reader app:
- 1. Open the Mirror Reader app.
- 2. Go to Settings.
- 3. Open Account.
- 4. Select Delete Account.
- 5. Review the deletion notice and confirm the deletion request.
After confirmation, Mirror Reader will delete or de-identify the account record and associated personal data that Mirror Reader is not legally required or permitted to keep.
If you cannot access the app or need help, contact us at info@mirrorreader.com using the email address associated with your account, if possible.
Data that is deleted
Account deletion is intended to remove personal data associated with your Mirror Reader account from active Mirror Reader systems, including:
- Mirror Reader account identifiers, such as internal user ID and account profile data;
- email address and sign-in metadata associated with email, Google, or Sign in with Apple authentication;
- reading progress;
- bookmarks;
- selected books;
- preferred language;
- font, theme, and reading settings;
- search history;
- recently opened books;
- favorites and library data;
- saved dictionary words and vocabulary data;
- English test results and related learning progress;
- push notification tokens associated with the deleted account, where applicable;
- Mirror Reader backend records related to optional support purchases or tips, except where retention is required for legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, security, or App Store transaction reasons.
Some data may not be deleted immediately or may not be controlled by Mirror Reader:
- Apple App Store purchase records. Payments, refunds, and official App Store transaction records are handled by Apple. Mirror Reader cannot delete Apple account records or Apple payment records.
- Google or Apple account records. Deleting your Mirror Reader account does not delete your Google account, Apple ID, or any account records maintained by Google or Apple. You may need to manage connected app access through your Google or Apple account settings.
- Security, fraud-prevention, legal, accounting, or compliance records. Mirror Reader may retain limited records where necessary to comply with law, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, maintain security, or support payment/accounting obligations.
- Backups and system logs. Residual copies may remain in backups, security logs, crash logs, analytics logs, or system records for a limited period and will be deleted or overwritten according to normal retention cycles.
- Local data on your device. Account deletion removes synced account data from Mirror Reader's active backend systems. To remove remaining local app data from your device, you may also delete the Mirror Reader app from the device.
- Public App Store activity. App Store reviews, ratings, and other Apple-hosted activity are managed by Apple.
Deleting the app is not the same as deleting your account
Removing the Mirror Reader app from your device may remove local app data from that device, but it may not delete your Mirror Reader account or synced backend data. To delete your account, use Settings > Account > Delete Account in the app or contact info@mirrorreader.com.
Timing
Mirror Reader aims to process account deletion and data deletion requests as soon as reasonably practical. In many cases, active account data can be deleted promptly after confirmation. Some retained records, backups, logs, or legally required records may take longer to expire or may be retained where permitted or required by law.
Consequences of deletion
Account deletion is intended to be permanent. After deletion:
- you may lose access to synced reading progress, bookmarks, saved words, test results, and other account-based data;
- deleted data may not be recoverable;
- if you create a new account later, it may not contain your previous reading or learning history;
- optional App Store support purchases or tips do not unlock app features and may remain reflected in Apple's transaction history.
